Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

Wells Fargo Operational Risk is looking for an Operational Risk Consultant 4 (ORC4) to be a member of the Operational Risk Assessment Oversight (ORAO) Team. An individual contributor, this ORC4 will generally be recognized as an industry and subject matter expert in operational risk and risk assessment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting oversight of the strategy, implementation and ongoing execution and enhancement of the operational risk assessment
- Supporting the program to enable Wells Fargo to identify, assess and mitigate operational risks that arise from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems or external events through appropriate standards, processes and tools
- Developing a “second-line-of-defense” corporate oversight framework for high-risk business processes
- Perform “second-line-of-defense” review for business process maps, risk and controls information based on the Integrated Process Risks and Controls (IPRC) Program Requirements and methodology
- Supporting the different lines of businesses (LOB) across the enterprise with questions or difficulties associated with IPRC Policy compliance, or identifying and documenting risk and controls for their processes
- Coordinating with the impacted LOB and leaders of the business enablement and technical services functions within the Business Process Risk Management (BPRM) Team to determine and pursue the best course of action for remediating any issues surfaced via testing
- Securing collaborative partnerships across the enterprise through influence and strong relational skills
- Representing the IPRC Program in various forums and steering committees
- Reporting detailed findings and relevant patterns/trends related to high-risk business processes in an understandable, actionable manner

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 6+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

  • A BS/BA degree or higher with a major in Risk Management
  • Ability to proactively manage and mitigate issues

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of regulatory laws/guidance and/or experience working on high-visibility strategic initiatives and/or regulatory programs/projects (e.g. Dodd-Frank, Basel, SOX or other major regulations)
  • Ability to present material to regulatory agencies
  • Strategy formulation experience
  • Infrastructure elements (e.g. servers, storage, network, data center, etc.) experience
  • First-line of defense business (e.g. Wealth Brokerage & Retirement, Wholesale Banking, Community Banking, Consumer Lending, Technology & Operations, and Corporate Staff Group) experience
  • Testing, quality assurance, and monitoring review activity experience
  • Familiarity with Wells Fargo Corporate Risk Management Program testing policies/guidelines

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
